About the role
Precision Eye Care is hiring a Surgical Coordinator to carry cataract and refractive surgical patients from the decision to operate through their post-operative visits. This role is the single point of accountability for every administrative and logistical detail of a surgical case. Our surgical volume is growing, and cases cannot move without this position working well.
What you'll do
- Schedule surgical cases with the ASC and maintain the surgical calendar alongside clinic templates
- Obtain prior authorizations, referrals, and pre-certifications, and track each to approval before the date of service
- Coordinate medical clearances and communicate outstanding items to patients and referring physicians
- Prepare and confirm informed consent, verify lens selection and biometry are complete and documented
- Counsel patients on out-of-pocket costs for premium lenses and elective services, collect payment, and document the financial discussion
- Confirm transportation, arrival instructions, and post-operative appointments before the case date
- Produce a case-status report for each surgical day covering lens, consent, clearance, payment, authorization, transportation, and post-operative appointment
- Serve as the practice's liaison with the ASC and device representatives
What we're looking for
- Experience coordinating surgical cases, ideally in ophthalmology; ASC or specialty surgical practice experience considered
- Working knowledge of prior authorization and insurance verification, including Medicare and Medicare Advantage
- Exceptional organization under deadline — a missed clearance cancels a case
- Comfort discussing cost and payment with patients directly and with care
- EHR proficiency; athenaOne experience a plus
- Discretion with protected health information
Compensation: $24.00 - $26.00 per hour
